Wrap up London!

Now here is a very worthwhile cause!  Wrap Up London seeks 10,000 coats to keep London warm during the winter months. The city’s first ever coat donation event, sponsored by Hands On London
Hands on London recently announced Wrap Up London, the first city-wide coat donation campaign in London, which aims to collect over 10,000 coats for vulnerable people, helping keep them warm during the cold winter months.  Hands on London have formed a special relationship with London Underground and the event kicks off with coat donation points at six London Underground mainline interchange stations on Friday 4th November. The stations are King’s Cross, Paddington, Charing Cross, Waterloo, London Bridge and Victoria.
Once collected and organised at Hands on London’s warehouse, the coats will be distributed directly to women and children’s shelters, homeless shelters and elderly centre’s throughout London in an effort to keep the most vulnerable Londoners warm during the winter months.
Elizabeth Grier, Hands on London says: “London’s most vulnerable are  facing an even greater susceptibility during our cold winters. Electricity and gas costs are expected to rise 16% and 18% respectively; resulting in an average annual increase of close to £200. Interestingly, this annual price increase mirrors the average cost to provide a family of 4 with new winter coats. Our goal is to combat the cold and rising energy prices by providing those in need with a little extra warmth via donated winter coats.”
So if you have any old coats you no longer need or use, please head to one of London’s stations listed above tomorrow! xx
